Potential explosive device thrown at Lockport home

A Hartford Drive resident reported a suspicious item was thrown against their home Sunday morning. 

The resident said about 8:30 a.m. he and his wife were eating breakfast when he heard something hit the side of his house. 

About 10:45 a.m., the resident said he went outside to fix a window shutter and found a 12-ounce Pepsi can laying on the ground near his gas meter feed. The can had some kind of wick that had been set on fire but had burned out and there was an unknown liquid inside the can. The resident moved the can away from his home and called police.

Niagara County fire investigators and crime scene personnel were called to the scene to collect evidence which is being submitted to a forensic lab to be tested for the presence of a flammable liquid and fingerprints on the can.
