Grand Island man charged with DWI

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies investigating a reckless driver complaint on New Road arrested a Grand Island man coming from his son's football game about 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Upon turning onto New Road, a deputy said he pulled up behind the vehicle in question and saw it crossing the center line as well as failing to keep right and driving recklessly in the left lane toward oncoming traffic.

The deputy said he attempted to initiate a traffic stop but upon activating the emergency lights, it appeared the driver of the vehicle in question did not notice. The deputy followed the vehicle for several hundred feet before activating the vehicle's siren. The vehicle then pulled over to the right side of the road.

The driver, Mark A. Homa, 51, 980 Enola Road, appeared intoxicated and had trouble exiting the car when asked.

He then failed numerous field sobriety tests. When the deputy asked where he was coming from, Homa told him his “son's football game."

Homa refused to consent to a chemical test after being charged with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and reckless driving.

According to the report, a Church Street resident told police that McGriff, who she has a valid order of protection from, is 'constantly driving past he and her friends houses.' After he drove by for the fourth time in a matter of minutes, the woman attempted to take a picture of McGriff. He responded by getting out of the vehicle, grabbed his genitals and said "take a picture of this (expletive)!" McGriff was later arrested.
