Pregnant woman, father of child arrested

A Niagara County Sheriff's deputy arrested a pregnant woman and the father of her child Sunday morning after a traffic stop on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

After stopping a car driven by Stephanie M. Washington for failure to keep right about 11 a.m., the deputy said a computer check showed her license suspended June 28 for failure to answer a summons in the Falls.

While interviewing Washington, the deputy said he could smell burning marijuana and asked about it, to which she replied, "No, there aint nothing in here, I'm pregnant."

When asked again, Washington replied, "My man smokes cigars, that's it."

Her man, Raymond L. Jones Jr., a passenger in the car, admitted to having marijuana and turned over a grinder filled with marijuana.

Jones, 18, of Buffalo, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Washington, 20, Mourning Dove Lane, Niagara Falls, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to keep right.
