A Niagara County Sheriff's deputy tracked down two women who took a Camp Good Days donation box from a Wheatfield Tim Hortons early Friday morning.

The deputy was called to the Niagara Road location about 2:30 a.m. and spoke with a district manager who reported two women had taken the donation container from the counter after distracting employees. An employee recognized one of the women and video surveillance of the incident was shown to the deputy. It showed the woman distracting the employee and lowering the container from the counter into a purse. It contained an estimated $50.

The deputy tracked down the Porter Road address of the name provided to him by the employee and after driving there, said a car pulled up and parked in front of the apartment.

The deputy said he recognized the passenger from the video and had her exit the car to speak with him. She identified herself as Marran K. Light and immediately confessed to taking the donation container. She said the other woman, Katelyn M. DeFranco, had pushed the container toward her with her elbow and she placed it in her purse. She was arrested and provided the deputy with a written statement.

The deputy then spoke with DiFranco who at first stated she was "wasted" but later admitted her part in the crime and was arrested and gave a written statement as well.

Both Katelyn M. DiFranco, 23, 8521 Porter Road, Apt. 9, Niagara Falls, and Marran K. Light, 20, 6123 Lockport Road, were charged with sixth-degree conspiracy and petit larceny.
