Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were called to a Miller Road address Monday night for a property dispute that turned up a marijuana growing operation.

The family of a deceased man who lived at the address said several items belonging to the man had been taken.

The complainant Monday night told deputies that he was told a shotgun was buried in the backyard and when he went to unearth it, found several marijuana plants growing in buckets and in the ground. The number of marijuana plants was not provided in the report.

Members of the Niagara County Drug Task Force were called to the scene and removed the pot plants.

Deputies had been out at the home earlier in the day and had spoken to a man who said he had lived in the house for many years and had removing his own property. The complainant said that man is now on his way to Louisiana.

A deputy arrived on the scene with a metal detector, but couldn't find any buried weapons.
