Woman shot during struggle with police detective

Falls police now say a woman, grabbing at the gun of a narcotics detective, has been shot and wounded in the area of 27th Street and Orleans Avenue. 

Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto confirmed the shooting which occurred around 8:30 p.m. The woman's wounds are not believed to be life threatening.

DalPorto said Narcotics Division detectives were assisting members of the Niagara County Drug Task Force in what was described as a "buy-bust"  involving a methamphetamine investigation. 

The detective was not injured during the incident.
