Niagara Gazette — The motorcyclist killed in a crash in the Town of Tonawanda on Sunday has been identified as 19-year-old Dante Mancuso, police said in a statement.

Mancuso, a town resident, was traveling north on Parker Boulevard at 4:19 p.m. when his motorcycle struck a Volkswagen Beetle driving westbound on Ogden Road.

"The motorcyclist, who was traveling north on Parker, had no stop sign. The vehicle, traveling west on Ogden Road, stopped for his stop sign and proceeded into the intersection into the path of the motorcycle," Capt. Joseph Carosi said.

Mancuso was transported to the Erie County Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. An autopsy was completed Monday morning and the investigation is ongoing.

Carosi said on Monday that "excessive speed and operator inexperience (by) the motorcyclist are being pursued as contributing factors of crash."

No charges have been filed against the driver of the car.
