Falls man charged with assault

A 29-year-old Niagara Falls man faces harassment, assault and contempt charges after a series of incidents involving a Vine Street woman.
Joel S. Zsebehazy, 328 Ferry Ave., Apt. 5, Niagara Falls, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree harassment and third-degree assault, obstruction of breath, after he turned himself in at Niagara Falls Police Department on Tuesday.
According to the report, Zsebehazy made threatening phone calls and text messages to a woman, demanding to know where his son was. There was a full stay-away order against Zsebehazy.
Police say Zsebehazy  came to the house, lunged at the woman and grabbed her around the neck choking her, leaving marks on her neck. She was able to pull away.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a car break-in in the 1400 block of Ferry Avenue. A 51-year-old man told police that sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday someone broke into his 2008 Chrysler 300 by unknown means. The victim said the car stereo system was taken and two tires were flattened. 

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 2700 block of LaSalle Avenue. A 40-year-old woman told officers that sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. April 17 someone broke into her garage by prying open a door. The victim said a push lawnmower, a weed-whacker, a snowblower, a car seat and a baby stroller were taken.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a car break-in in the 7300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. A 36-year-old man told police that sometime between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. Monday someone broke into his car by smashing the driver’s-side window. The victim said a TV, a blender and a backpack that contained a stethoscope, college textbooks and female panties, were taken.
