Newfane suspends members of baseball team

NEWFANE — Some members of the Newfane varsity baseball team caught last week with stolen goods, are being suspended this week from school, according to School Superintendent Christine Tibbits.

Myrtle Beach Police say the team members were among the seven arrested last week, while on road trip for the Mingo Games in South Carolina.

 
They admitted to stealing expensive sunglasses from a Sunglass Hut store. Police say they also retrieved items stolen from other stores. The team members also appeared before a school Athletic Disciplinary Council Monday. They have already been sentenced by a Myrtle Beach judge to do community service in Newfane.
