Mississippi woman taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight after Cambria crash

A Mississippi woman was flown to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight after driving off the road and rolling her vehicle in Cambria Monday afternoon.

The one-vehicle accident occurred about 12:40 p.m. in front of 4719 Saunders Settlement Road, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The 44-year-old resident of Kosciusko, Miss., was still in the vehicle when emergency personnel arrived. She told deputies she lost consciousness for an unknown reason, causing her to drive off of the road. Barnett was removed from the vehicle and treated at the scene by Cambria Volunteer Fire Company personnel and paramedics from Rural Metro Ambulance. She was then transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC for a possible head injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle left the north side of the road, struck a driveway culvert and overturned before landing upright, the sheriff's office said. The investigation is ongoing.
