Niagara Falls

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested following a fight which occurred at 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of Falls Street. Calvin Swanson, 33, 2777 Welch Ave., was charged with third-degree menacing after a 42-year-old man told officers he’d been threatened. The victim told police he’d broken up a fight between two juveniles behind his house and later in the day, Swanson, the father of one of the youths, appeared at his residence questioning the actions. The victim said Swanson became aggressive inquiring why the victim had touched his child, but calmed down enough to agree to leave after an explanation. While leaving, the victim said, Swanson said “tonight, I’m going to shoot your house up.” Swanson was reportedly taken into custody without incident.

• ALARM: Officers were called to a reported burglary alarm at 4:27 p.m. Saturday at an automotive repair shop in the 1700 block of Pierce Avenue. At the scene, the owner reportedly told police a squirrel inside the ceiling of the building was setting off the alarm. Police said this was the third time they’d been dispatched to the location for the alarm trigger Saturday.

• FIRE: Police responded to a reported fire at 1:54 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Ferry Avenue. Officers report a couch at the curb was on fire and needed to be extinguished. Police said they were unable to contact anyone about the property damage.

• ARMED ROBBERY: Police are investigating a reported armed robbery which occurred at 2:34 a.m. Saturday at a convenience store in the 8100 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. The victim, an employee, told officers an intoxicated, white man entered the store and demanded the cashier hand over $50 to call a cab. The cashier reportedly told him no, so the man allegedly said “I have a knife. I don’t want to hurt you.” The employee then reportedly gave the man $40 cash and the man left the building. Before exiting, the man told the employee “I will pay you back.” He then walked south on 82nd Street. Police said they were unable to locate the suspect.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a reported theft which occurred between 9 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday from a garage in the 2400 block of Pierce Avenue. The victim, a 35-year-old man, told officers someone entered his vehicle parked in his locked garage by shattering the front, passenger window and took his wallet and a DVD/stereo system. The property is valued at $678 total including damages.
