Theft of funds leads to arrest for Wheatfield donut shop worker

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were called to a donut shop on Forest Parkway on Thursday for a report of money missing from a safe.

A company manager said $55 was found missing on Tuesday and it wasn't the first time it has happened. They said it was the fourth time money was gone from the safe in recent weeks.

The manager detailed the recent suspicious behavior of an employee, Mitchell R. Herring, 22, 97 West Summerset Lane, Apt. 3, Amherst, who was recently hired.

The deputy went to speak with Herring and after a brief conversation, Herring admitted to taking the money and was charged with petit larceny.
