The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Monday night armed robbery of a Wheatfield convenience store.

The suspect entered the Citgo Jolly Roger, 2065 River Road, at 10:24 p.m. displaying a long gun and demanding cash. He left the store after taking an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect then left the area, heading east through a parking lot.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Tracy Steen of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 438-3337 or the sheriff's dispatch at 438-3393.

Monday's armed robbery follows a rash of similar hold-ups throughout the county.

The hold-ups started on Christmas Eve. At least four of the robberies have similarities to them.

Two armed gunmen are being sought in connection with a Christmas Eve stick-up at the Kwik Fill in the 3900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard in Wheatfield. That hold-up was followed by the armed robbery of the 7-Eleven, 79 Telegraph Road, Middleport, on Christmas Day.

Two additional robberies, on Dec. 26 at the 7-Eleven, in the 6800 block of Plaza Drive in Wheatfield and on Jan. 4 at the Comfort Inn, in the 500 block of Transit Road in Lockport, are also believed to be the work of the two suspects.
