Falls couple indicted in Jan 26 shooting

Niagara Gazette — LOCKPORT — A Niagara County grand jury has indicted a Niagara Falls couple in connection with a shooting incident that almost left a 7-year-old child wounded.

The grand jury charged Michael Anthony Lorraine, 26, of 2455 LaSalle Ave., Apt. 1, and Dominque Nicole Ferguson, 28, 479 25th St., lower, each with attempted first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Lorraine is also charged in a separate indictment with second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with an incident that led to the shooting.

Falls police said they were called to the 3300 block of Ninth Street at 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 26 for a report of "shots fired and bullet holes inside a residence." When they arrived, a 17-year-old girl told them she had gotten into a "physical altercation" with Ferguson in the parking lot of her apartment complex.

A witness told police she heard a commotion outside her apartment and when she looked out her window, she saw a dark-colored SUV sitting in the parking lot.

The victim said Lorraine got out of the SUV and began to walk toward her. She told officers she thought Lorraine was going to attack her, but instead he threw a gun to Ferguson.

The victim said she began to run toward the apartment complex and the witness said she saw Ferguson fire "multiple shots" at the victim. The teen was able to get inside the apartment complex without being hit.

Ferguson and Lorraine then fled from the scene.

Investigators said when they looked inside the witness' apartment they discovered that two bullets had gone through a wall near the front door. One lodged in the wall of a closet.

But a second bullet went through the closet wall and struck a picture frame, above a couch were a 7-year-old child was sitting. The bullet landed on the couch, right next to the child.
