Mercy Flight called in for Lockport youth hit by car Monday afternoon

A 14-year-old Lockport youth was flown to Children's Hospital by Mercy Flight after being hit by a car about 4:45 p.m. Monday on Robinson Road.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office said it received several 911 calls reporting the boy being struck by a vehicle in the area of 6221 Robinson Road while riding his bike.

First responders found the boy on the side of the road with leg and head injuries. An initial investigation determined the 14-year-old was riding west along the shoulder of Robinson Road and was struck when he pulled into the path of westbound traffic.

While the youth was flown by Mercy Flight to Children's Hospital, sheriff's officials said none of the injuries appeared life-threatening.

An infant in the vehicle that struck the youth was also taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

An investigation into the accident is continuing.
