NT man charged with assault after stabbing

A 25-year-old North Tonawanda man was arrested early Sunday after stabbing a victim in the back, police said.

City of Tonawanda patrols reported to TNT Pizza after receiving a report of a fight at about 3:20 a.m., Capt. Michael Rogers said. A witness at the scene pointed out two men and told officers that they had "just stabbed someone."

The suspects, Jacob M. Follendorf and Jonathan A. Wozniewski, fled the scene on foot and ran to the Tim Hortons parking lot on Niagara Street.

Police chased the two men, arrested Wozniewski and continued to pursue Follendorf, who ran behind St. Francis of Assisi School.

"They chased Follendorf and eventually arrested him on Clinton Street," Rogers said. "He threw the knife used in the attack into the bushes."

Follendorf, of Fifth Avenue, North Tonawanda, was charged with assault with an intent to cause injury, a B felony, as well as obstruction of governmental administration, menacing, resisting arrest, and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was held for court.

Wozniewski, of Third Avenue, North Tonawanda, was charged with possession of marijuana.

The victim of the stabbing, whose name is not being released, was treated on the scene and then sent to Erie County Medical Center. Rogers described his injuries as non-life threatening.

Follendorf has previously been arrested in the Tonawandas in 2011, 2008 and 2007 for disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing, assault, gang assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon.
