BLOTTER: Police reports published Jan. 16

Niagara Falls

• VANDALISM: Officers are looking into an act of vandalism in the 1500 block of Pine Avenue. A business owner told police that sometime between 3 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday someone cut the phone lines to his store.

• ASSAULT: Police are investigating an assault in the 600 block of 19th Street. A 55-year-old man told officers that he was doing work on a house in that area around 5:55 p.m. Tuesday and advised a tenant that he would be back to finish the work on Wednesday. The tenant told the man he “did not like the way he was talking to him” and attacked him. The victim said he pulled a knife out to defend himself and the tenant grabbed a 2-by-4 board and swung it at him. The victim said he was hit in the arm by the board and he ran from the scene. Police said the victim may have suffered a broken arm.

City of Tonawanda

• WARRANT: Jimmy T. Garcia, 24, of 67th Street, Niagara Falls, was arrested Tuesday on a bench warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was held for court.
