Lockport pizzeria hit by burglars

About $100 was taken from a cash register after someone smashed their way into Stevie V's Pizzeria, 6318 Robinson Road, overnight Friday.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the business about 7:30 a.m. Saturday after someone noticed the glass front doors smashed out.

It appeared someone used a large piece of asphalt to smash the glass. Once inside, the suspect went through the cash register and took $100.

The owner of the business said an envelope containing cash, a locked change box and other loose money was all left behind by the suspect.

When the business' alarm was checked, it was determined the batteries were dead in the keypad used to set it.

Deputies were told of a suspicious youth that came to the business about 10 minutes before it closed at 11 p.m.

Video surveillance from nearby businesses is being checked.

The estimated damage to the business is $1,000.
