Marshals arrest Falls man on the run from sex charges

Niagara Gazette — A Falls man who went on the run during a sexual abuse investigation has been arrested and returned to the Cataract City.

United States Marshals arrested Philips Edgardo Aguilar after locating him in the Long Island community of Uniondale. He was arraigned in Falls City Court on a charge of predatory sexual assault of child and was jailed pending a preliminary hearing later today.

Aguilar, 36, of Whitney Avenue, is accused of involvement in a sexual assault on a child under the age of 13. The investigation began in 2011 and Aguilar fled the area at the time.

His two years on the run ended earlier this month when federal marshals were able to track him down.

Neither police nor prosecutors would comment further on the case.

Aguilar could face up to 25 years in prison if he were to be convicted on the sexual assault charge.
