Police investigating Tuesday afternoon shooting on Pine Avenue

The glass door of a Pine Avenue clothing shop was shattered this afternoon during a brazen shooting.

Police guarded the outside of the store — L.O.E.G. located at 2908 Pine Ave. — behind yellow crime scene tape while detectives and police photographers scoured the scene looking for clues.

Onlookers hovered gawking at the shattered glass and police lights. Most in the crowd told a Gazette reporter they had happened upon the scene, while others declined to comment on whether they had seen anything.

Hussein Mansour, the owner of Mansour's Market and Gas across the street from the shooting, said he was outside when the shooting occurred.

"The window went down and then I just saw a black car with tinted windows speed off," Mansour said.

Mansour, who opened his gas station and convenience store two weeks ago, said at first he thought the loud pops were part of some sort of prank.

"There was somebody fighting with somebody across the street," Mansour said. "But I can't see who's across the street."

Mansour, who is originally from Egypt, moved to Niagara Falls from New Paltz, N.Y., two years ago and said he has come to like the people in the city.

However, the shooting has unnerved him some, he said.

"I don't know what to say about this because it's terrible," Mansour said. "I'm in America for 19 years and I've never seen that."

Mansour's wife and children were planning on coming to the store, but he called and told them to stay home after the shooting, he said.

"The kids are always here and playing outside," he said.
