Narcotics detectives arrest three during weekend drug raids

Falls police narcotics detectives have kicked off the holiday season with multiple drug raids that began just before Thanksgiving and have continued into December.

"It's the usual stuff and we're not slowing down," Narcotics Investigations Division Capt. Dave LeGault said. "We're going to keep going through (Christmas) and we'll push through to the first of the year. There are no passes for the holidays for dealers."

LeGault said drug investigators began their latest round of arrests on Nov. 26. when they hit a LaSalle Avenue pot dealer. Detectives and officers with the Emergency Response Team targeted the home of Anthony Bogan Sr. in the 1500 block of LaSalle Avenue.

"There were an enormous number of complaints about the traffic (in and out of Bogan's house)," LeGault said.

And Bogan, 55, was no stranger to narcotics detectives. An earlier raid at his home, on Feb. 13, had resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun, as well as a quantity of marijuana.

Bogan, was actually about to stand trial on a gun possession charge in that case, when he was arrested after the pre-Thanksgiving raid on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.

"That is one of the reasons we were looking at him," LeGault said. "He just wouldn't stop (selling pot), so we hit him again."

Days after the raid, Bogan pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, in a deal with prosecutors, just before his trial was set to begin.

Just over a week later, narcotics detectives, with the assistance of ERT officers and a K-9 officer from the Lewiston Police Department, executed two more search warrants. Investigators found over an ounce of crack cocaine and a quantity of marijuana in home in the 2200 block of Welch Avenue.
