Porter man reports $8,000 stolen from vehicle

A Dickersonville Road man reported the theft of $8,000 from a vehicle on his property overnight Sunday.

After returning home from a two-week hunting trip, the resident said he was tired after the long drive and forgot he hid $8,000 under the driver's side floor mat of the vehicle.

Checking on the vehicle Monday morning, the resident discovered the vehicle's passenger-side window smashed in and the cash gone.

A possible suspect was provided to police. The matter is being investigated and crime scene personnel responded to the scene as well.
