Dealer busted on boulevard

Niagara Gazette — Falls Police narcotics detectives have taken a North Tonawanda man out of the drug trade here.

Investigators said they raided a room at a Niagara Falls Boulevard motel late Monday morning and siezed drugs and cash from Travis Broughton.

"(Detectives) have been following this guy for about two months now (building their case)," Narcotics Division Capt. Dave LeGault said. "He was living in North Tonawanda and then every day he would drive into the Falls to sell his drugs."

LeGault said Broughton was operating out of room 126 at the Hospitality Inn in the 6700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. Investigators said they watched a steady stream of customers go in and out of Broughton's motel room on a daily basis.

"You could say he was offering some hospitality," LeGault said.

Investigators said Broughton offered no resistance when they came through the motel room door. They seized a "significant quantity" of crack cocaine and over $1,800.

Broughton, 36, 53 Newell Drive, was charged with third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

LeGault praised the work of his detectives, which included considerable surveillance and trailing of Broughton.

"They did a lot of work on this," the narcotics captain said. "It was an outstanding job."
