Youngstown man charged in Lewiston purse snatching

A Youngstown man was arrested after a purse snatching at a grocery store in Lewiston on Monday.

New York State Police said Friday that a woman shopping at the grocery store on Monday reported that her purse was taken from her shopping cart. Witnesses at the store were able to give police a description of the man responsible as well as the vehicle he left in.

Troopers contacted the owner of the vehicle and were able to determine Joshua N. Pollock, 32, of Youngtown, was responsible for the theft. After taking him into custody, Pollock showed police the dumpster where he had dumped the purse and police were able to retrieve it.

Pollock was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny.
