Man sought in shooting of child surrenders

NIAGARA FALLS — Willie Scott Jr., the man sought by police in the Nov. 27 shooting that left a 2-year-old child injured, turned himself in on Wednesday, according to Falls police.

 Scott, 32, was arrested, and arraigned Wednesday morning. He was wanted on a warrant ofr charges of first-degree assault and second-degree criminal use of a firearm.

Police say Scott, who is also known as "Boo" and "Tony," is the suspected gunman who shot at a man in a vehicle at Hometown Market on Pierce Avenue on Nov. 27, striking the two-year-old girl who was sitting in the backseat.

Scott was also wanted on outstanding warrants unrelated to this incident including fifth-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

He is being held in the Niagara County Jail.
