Deputies follow the tracks to man suspected of car break-in in Lockport

Tracks left in the snow led Niagara County Sheriff's deputies to a car break-in suspect in the Town of Lockport early Tuesday morning.

A resident of Lockwood Lane called police after spotting a man in her car about 2 a.m. He ran from the residence when she let her dog out but left a trail for arriving deputies to follow.

The trail led through several yards, into a field and near 6200 Tonawanda Creek Road where deputies found Dino Sanford, 27, of the Town of Lockport. He was charged with petit larceny.

Deputies said cash, pills and other personal items were recovered.

An investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending. The area of Lockwood Lane and Forestview Drive has seen several car break-ins in the past year, deputies noted.
