Driver who damaged part of Great Pumpkin Farm charged with DWI

New York State Police say a Getzville man driving his van through a lot at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Newstead lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a shed this past Sunday.

Police say wet grass in the lot led Douglas N. Koithan, 52, to lose control of the van.

While investigating the matter, troopers determined Koithan had been drinking. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DWI.

A breath test determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.14 percent.

The State Police report was made available on Thursday.
