BLOTTER: Police reports published April 20

• CHARGED: Jack C. Lane, 41, 1333 Willow Ave., Apt. 1, was charged with petit larceny about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Falls police. Staff at Walmart told police they saw him put five bottles of Advil Congestion aid and two bottles of Nyquil in his pants pocket and try to walk out of the store. He was detained by store staff and charged by police. The items together were worth about $45.

 
• VANDALISM: The owner of a 2008 Dodge Avenger told police someone poured a caustic substance on the hood of the vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of their 77th Street home. Officers said it appeared to be acetone poured on the hood which caused severe paint damage, leaving it bubbled and peeling away. The estimated damage is $1,000.

• CONTRABAND: William Anthony Jones Jr., 33, 1139 LaSalle Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged possession of contraband while in the county jail on Wednesday. Deputies responded to a report of the smell of smoke in the housing area. During the course of the investigation, they found Jones had hidden two small plastic bags containing marijuana in his underwear. Jones had been sentenced to 90 days in jail by Niagara Falls City Court for a separate marijuana possession charge.
