Woman killed in car-truck crash Thursday morning

Niagara Gazette — ROYALTON — A woman, whose name has not been released, was killed in a accident involving a car and a dump truck about 8 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Slayton Settlement and Orangeport roads.

The Niagara County Sheriff's office received numerous calls reporting an injury accident. According to the  report, a southbound car was traveling on Orangeport Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at Slayton Settlement. The vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound dump truck.

Both vehicles went off the roadway, striking a tree. The female occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was transported to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport for minor injuries.

Gasport Chemical Hose, Wrights Corners and Terry's Corners Fire Companies responded, as did Tri-Town Ambulance and Niagara County Hazmat.

The sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit is continuing the investigation. The names of the victim was not released.
