An off-duty Customs officer's complaint led Niagara County Sheriff's deputies to a man and woman driving with a stash of pills and suspected heroin Tuesday afternoon on River Road.

While on the 2400 block of River Road, a deputy said an of-duty Customs and Border Protection agent pulled up and notified him that people driving in a car in front of him had been smoking marijuana in the car.

The deputy located the car and stopped it near the LaSalle Expressway entrance on Williams Road. The passenger, Amanda M. Camidge, told the deputy she had been smoking a blunt but threw it out the window when she saw the Customs agent stop to talk to the deputy.

The driver of the car, Sean M. Reed Jr., allowed a search of the car and after more deputies responded to the scene, prescription bottles containing 19 tablets were found in a center console.

In another bottle, deputies found 43 packets of a substance that field-tested positive for the presence of heroin.

Both Camidge, 18, 3023 Panama Ave., Niagara Falls, and Reed, 25, 2168 Amy Drive, Niagara Falls, were taken into custody and face unspecified charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell.

The car was towed and deputies said a search warrant was obtained for further processing of the vehicle.
