Armed men rob Sanborn convenience store

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early Friday morning armed robbery at a Saunders Settlement Road convenience store.

A clerk said two men entered the store a little after 3 a.m., one of them displaying a handgun. The clerk turned over an undetermined amount of cash and the two men fled.

Deputies, along with Lewiston and state police, responded immediately and set up a perimeter but were unable to locate the men.

The sheriff's Criminal Bureau is investigating.

It was the second armed robbery of the store this week.

A Niagara County Sheriff's deputy responding to an armed robbery there Wednesday morning was able to quickly find the suspect.

A sheriff's deputy said he was on patrol on Shawnee Road about 2 a.m. when he received a call  about the robbery — a clerk said a man wielding a knife had made off with $200.

The suspect, a Lockport man, was stopped while driving on Lockport Road, identified by the clerk and charged.
