BLOTTER: Police reports published Feb. 8

• ARREST: Dane Michael Washington, 27, of 2739 Falls St., was arrested Thursday and charged with petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police reports said Washington is accused of taking money from a Niagara Falls convenience store where he was an employee. According to reports, the store manager told police that he reviewed footage from an in-house surveillance camera after a customer asked him why the store, which is open 24 hours a day, was locked on Jan. 25. The store manager told police surveillance footage from the day in question showed Washington accept $10 in cash from a customer who was buying beer, but instead of ringing up the sale, Washington placed it next to the register and later took the money and walked out of the camera’s view. Reports indicated that the store manager and regional manager confronted Washington about the incident earlier this week and he admitted that he stole the cash and provided a written statement. At the time of his arrest, reports indicated that officers removed a small baggie of suspected marijuana from Washington’s right pants pocket.
