Lancaster man charged with DWI after running out of gas in Lockport

A Lancaster man who ran out of gas on South Transit Road early Tuesday morning was charged with DWI after sheriff's deputies investigated.

A deputy said he was called to the area about 2:30 a.m. for a report of a car stopped in the driving lane of South Transit, in front of Consumers Beverages.

As he arrived, the deputy spotted the car in stooped in the driving lane and Henry N. Ploch, 46, 49 E. Drullard Ave., Lancaster, standing in the center turning lane.

The deputy asked what Ploch was doing and he replied that he had run out of gas. The deputy asked where he was coming from and Ploch told him Lancaster. The deputy then asked where he was going and Ploch again responded Lancaster. When told he was in Niagara County, he responded, "Oh, really?"

When asked again where he was coming from, Ploch responded, "That strip club in Lancaster" and he was driving home to Lancaster.

Ploch appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and took a chemical test which showed a 0.12 percent blood alcohol content.

Ploch was charged with DWI, drinking alcohol in a moving vehicle, failure to keep right, improper signal and unlawful possession of marijuana.
