Sheriff's office investigates report of shots fired in Pendleton woods

A Pendleton resident called police after hearing several gunshots on his property Sunday night.

An Oakwood Drive resident called Niagara County Sheriff's deputies about 6:40 p.m. Sunday to report he had heard an ATV on the east side of his property stop and then our or five shots from what he believed was a handgun.

The resident said the suspect may have been poaching deer. 

Deputies brought in K-9 Vedder to locate any spent rounds but the flooded conditions of the ground made it too difficult and no evidence was recovered.
