• PREMISE CHECK: Police were called to a vacant residence for a check at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Memorial Parkway. Upon arrival, police were met by members of the block club, which informed officers the north side door of the property was ajar. Police report grass waist-high and, upon approaching the open door, strong odors of feces and mold were noticeable. The city’s code enforcement office was notified and, once on scene, entered the building. A finished basement was found with dog feces, mold, food trash and other garbage thrown about the floor. Code enforcement reportedly secured the building and condemned the house. The owner was not able to be contacted.

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested after an alleged open container violation at 2:58 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Pine Avenue. John Bloom, 38, 1705 Walnut Ave., was charged with restricted use of alcohol after police say they spotted him drinking what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage in public. He was reportedly arrested without incident.

• THEFT: Police are investigating a reported theft from a residence between 9 p.m. Thursday, July 25 and 9 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of 62nd Street. The victim, a 52-year-old woman, told police she was out of town and when she returned, two necklaces, a ring and some Zanax were missing from her bedroom. She said while she was away, her daughter had a party but restricted the use of the bedroom to only her cousin and her cousin’s boyfriend to sleep. Total value of the property was listed at $1,110.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a reported burglary between 10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Friday from a residence in the 600 block of Ashland Avenue. The victim, a 53-year-old man, told police he returned home and found someone had forcefully broken the lock on his rear door. Missing from his home was approximately $15,450 of audio recording materials, including amplifiers, a keyboard and drum cymbals, as well as a gold watch.
