Deputies stop Lockport man driving with blood alcohol level 3X legal limit

A Lockport man is facing an aggravated DWI charge after a woman he had been arguing with on Ewings Road called police to report he was driving away drunk.

Christopher J. Fritton, 48, 89 Grant St., Lockport, was charged Wednesday with aggravated DWI, DWI, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the highway and unlicensed driving.

A sheriff’s deputy was called for a report of an unwanted party on Ewings Road at 9 p.m. While driving to the home, the deputy was informed that Fritton had left and was driving drunk.

The deputy located his Ford Escape on Ridge Road and pulled him over. While approaching the vehicle, the deputy said Fritton threw a can of Four-Loco into the back seat.

The deputy said Fritton appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. The deputy noted that Fritton told him several times that he has a drinking problem and is seeking help.

After being charged, Fritton submitted to a breath test about 9:45 p.m. and his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.24 percent.
