Niagara Falls

• ASSAULT: Police were called Wednesday evening to investigate a report of an assault near a convenience store in the 400 block of 4th Street. A male victim told police that he and a female exited the store at about 10:30 p.m. when an unknown assailant approached and punched him in the face. The male victim told police that he dropped a case of water he was carrying after two male suspects punched and kicked his body. The victim told police he heard one of the suspects tell the other to “get the girl,” prompting him to tell the female to run. Both victims said they proceeded to run south on 4th Street and back to the store. Neither victim could tell police where the suspects fled. The male victim reported suffering pain to the left side of his face, but declined medical attention once Rural Metro was on scene. The female victim said she was not harmed during the incident. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects, according to reports.

• PURSE SNATCH: A woman who was walking to work in the 700 block of Main Street Wednesday evening had her purse stolen off her arm by a suspect who sneaked up on her from behind and ran south down the block. Officers were called to search the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

• ARSON: Officers were called to a report of a vehicle fire in the 2900 block of North Avenue late Wednesday. According to reports, a visitor to a home on the block noticed fire coming from the gas tank of a 2002 Chevy Suburban that was on the premises. The visitor ran into the home to alert the owners to the fire. Reports indicated that one of the residents pulled a winter glove, that was ignited, from the gas tank of the vehicle. The fire was extinguished by the time officers arrived on scene. The blaze caused roughly $500 damage to the vehicle’s gas tank and rear quarter panel.
