NIAGARA FALLS

Man stabbed outside Main Street business

Falls police were called to the 1500 block of Main Street about 2:45 a.m. Sunday for a report of a large fight with a knife involved.

Eventually police tracked down a man being treated for several lacerations at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He said family members called him to the fight for help and wasn’t sure what had happened after that.

Police said the man had lacerations to his forehead, cheek, arm and midsection. Officers also noted the man wasn’t very cooperative.



Heavy bridge traffic brings arrest

Falls police charged a Rochester woman blocking heavy bridge traffic in the area of Fourth and Main streets after she refused their orders Saturday night.

Police said they first noticed Shawn E. Perry, 41, 28 Carthage Drive, when she was blocking several other cars as they were waiting in line about 7:30 p.m. After telling her to move, officers said they heard honking and saw Perry was the source of it.

She was eventually charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing an intersection and driving without insurance.



Look out for this Falls slasher

A 50-year-old city man told police Sunday he was at a house party in the 600 block of 18th Street about 1 a.m. when he got into an argument with a man there who then left the party.

The victim said a short time later, the man returned with a machete and tried to attack him. The victim said he tried to wrestle the machete away and was punched in the face. Other party-goers separated the man from the big knife and he left.

About two hours later, a resident on the 600 block of 18th Street identified the same machete-welding man as the person he saw slashing one of the tires of his ’99 GMC Jimmy.



How many times have we heard this story?

A 41-year-old man told police he let a friend stay over Saturday night. He told police the friend was addicted to heroin and was high when he let her into his house.

The resident said he left for two hours at 5:45 a.m. and when he returned the “friend” was gone as was a coin jar containing about $30 and a $1,760 diamond ring.



Niagara Falls

• DWI: Roshena C. Shine, 25, 21A Carter Ct., was charged with DWI about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Falls police. Police responding to an accident found Shine’s ’01 Chevy Venture had been driven into a garage door at the Center Court offices. Officers said at first Shine told them a family member had been driving the car but later admitted she had been the one driving. She failed several field sobriety tests and was at first taken to Park Police headquarters for a breath test, but a malfunctioning unit instead sent her to State Police where she registered a 0.11 blood alcohol content, the report said.

• DWI: Patricia G. McKenzie, 57, 425 66th St., was charged with DWI and failure to signal a right turn about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to Falls police. Called to an accident in a parking lot on the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard, officers said McKenzie appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. She refused a breath test.

• FIRE: Falls fire investigators are investigating a vacant house fire at 1006 Niagara Avenue. Police said they were called to the house fire about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers noted the vacant house had no electricity or gas meter. Fire investigators told police the fire appeared to be an arson, the report said.

• THEFT: A 35-year-old 20th Street resident told police someone broke into his ’07 Dodge Ram pickup that was inside a locked garage Saturday night and took a shotgun, backpack, binoculars, a hunting knife and about $1,000 in tools. The victim had planned to go hunting Sunday morning, the report noted.

• THEFT: A 32-year-old resident of the 2100 block of Main Street told police he looked out his apartment window about 3:45 a.m. Sunday and saw someone inside his ’99 Buick LeSabre. The resident said he ran outside and yelled at the man who ran off. About 40 Opana pills and $10 in coins were taken.

• THEFT: Two juveniles were stopped by a security at a department store on Military Road after trying to leave without paying for several pairs of hoop earrings, a Michael Jackson CD and a “Twilight” DVD. The girls were turned over a family member working at a nearby shopping center.

• CHARGED: Katie Hulbert, 26, 2227 Caledonia St., Newfane, was charged 12:30 a.m. Saturday with disorderly conduct, sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of an intoxicated party who was possibly walking in the road. According to the report, deputies saw Hulbert yelling and screaming while other people were trying to quiet her down. Hulbert swore at deputies and would not comply with their requests and was eventually arrested, the report said.

• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Karen E. Banks, 41, 102 Doorwood Park, Ransomville, and Deborah S. Stewart, 53, 106 Doorwood Park, were charged Friday with disorderly conduct. Deputies charged the women after a neighbor dispute.
