Animal call draws police
Falls police reported that they were called to a home on the 1100 block of North Avenue about 6 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man with a gun shooting at raccoons.
Patrol officers, as well as Roving Anti-Crime Unit officers, responded to the home and set up a perimeter. Officers found nothing in the backyard and a 50-year-old man in the home. The man allowed officers to search the home and no gun was found.
Police did find several animal traps in the driveway including one with a live opossum inside foaming at the mouth. The Department of Environmental Conservation was called.
The man told police he didn’t know anything about the traps and lives at the home with his mother and father who were not home at the time.

• THEFT: The owner of a business on the 8400 block of Buffalo Avenue reported to police Wednesday that sometime between 3:30-5:45 a.m. someone smashed a front glass door window and forced open a bubblegum machine to steal some change. The owner said about $500 damage was done to the window and $150 damage was done to the gum machine.
• THEFT: A resident on the 400 block of Ferry Avenue reported Wednesday that sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. someone entered his apartment and took a 32-inch TV valued at $800 and kicked in a bedroom door.
• INCIDENT: Staff at LaSalle Middle School reported to police Wednesday that a student told a staff member that on Oct. 23 she was waiting for a school bus at 85th Street and Bollier Avenue when a white “work-type” van drove by four or five times. The student said when a friend began texting on her phone the van drove off. Staff told police the student had not seen the van since.

• BURGLARY: A Meyer Road, Lockport, woman told police Tuesday that someone entered her residence while she was not home and took several items, together valued at $24. A police report said there are no suspects or witnesses at this time.
