YOUNGSTOWN

More than $11K in jewelry taken

A Fieldcrest Drive woman told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies Thursday that more than $11,000 in jewelry had been taken from her home.

The victim said someone had entered the house and removed several items besides the jewelry, including a digital camera, $100 worth of collector coins and a video camera. The report said the missing items totaled $11,750.

The victim said she noticed the items missing when she went to put on a piece of jewelry and saw the box was empty. She said the items were all there on Sunday and she was away from the house for a long period of time on Monday. The report said there was no sign of forced entry into the house.

BUFFALO

Three men arrested for pointing laser at plane

Police say three Buffalo men face felony charges for pointing a laser at a FedEx airplane and a sheriff’s helicopter that was investigating.

Timothy Voigt, his 20-year-old son, Eric, and 28-year-old Bradley Campbell are accused of pointing the bright green beam at the plane about 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The pilots alerted air traffic controllers, who called Buffalo police.

As the Erie County sheriff’s helicopter searched, its pilot said the laser pointer was trained on it several times.

The suspects appeared on reckless endangerment charges in City Court Friday. They told a judge they had yet to hire an attorney and declined comment after being released without bail.
