Former Falls fugitive admits sexual assault on a child

Niagara Gazette — LOCKPORT — A Falls man, who went on the run during a sexual abuse investigation, has pleaded guilty to a single count of first-degree criminal sex act.

Philips Edgardo Aguilar entered his plea during a hearing Tuesday in Niagara County Court before Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Aguilar, 36, of Whitney Avenue, told the judge he "engaged in oral sex with a child under the age of 13" in an incident in that occurred in 2011. He will face sentencing in September.

Shortly after Falls police began investigating the incident, Aguilar fled the area. His two years on the run ended in January, US marshals were able to track him down.

The marshals arrested Aguilar after locating him in the Long Island community of Uniondale.

He was originally charged with predatory sexual assault of child.
