Timothy Depetris was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday morning.
The sentence follows the Falls businessman's unsuccessful bid to withdraw his plea to seven charges connected to the shooting of his brother-in-law in what investigators said was a “business dispute.”
Surrounded by his three daughters, the victim in the shooting, Santos Viola, told Niagara County Court Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas the incident has changed his life forever.
"I can't describe the terror I experienced during that violent attack," he told the court.
Depetris was accused of shooting his brother-in-law in the doorway of the victim’s business in the 2300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard on March 26, 2012. Viola, who had gone to the door for a pizza delivery, was shot in the upper chest, near his shoulder.
