Niagara Gazette — Plans are under way for the annual Lord's Day Dinner that will be served to needy families and individuals on Christmas.

Missionary Yvonne L. Davis, founder of the event, said the free dinner will be available Dec. 25, from noon to 6 p.m., at the VFW Post 917-LaSalle Griffon, 2435 Seneca Ave. and Hyde Park Boulevard.

Davis said elderly and wheel chair-bound persons in need of a dinner should call 284-6973 by Dec. 21. No requests can be fulfilled after that date.

At present, she added, the organizers need a good used van, a mini-bus or a small moving/hauling truck to be donated for the day. Anyone who can provide that type of assistance is asked to call Ms. Davis, Matt Davis or Tishnell Davis at 284-6973.

Information also will be provided about the list of items needed for the dinner. They range from hams and turkeys to canned vegetables, pastries, salad dressings to utensils, napkins and paper towels. In addition, toys would be appreciated as well as personal hygiene for youth to adults and new or gently used winter clothing, for infants to adults.

The Davis family coordinated the recent Thanksgiving Day dinner at the VFW site, providing hundreds of people with food for the day.

VEHICLE NEEDED Lord's Day Dinner organizers need a good used van, a mini-bus or a small moving/hauling truck or the day. Call 284-6973 if you can help.
