Niagara Gazette — Lockport Police Chief Larry Eggert will give the keynote address this month at an interfaith memorial service remembering law enforcement personnel who died in the line of duty.
It’s the 17th annual service by police agencies from Western New York and southern Ontario. It coincides with National Police Week, May 11 to May 17.
The service will be held at 7 p.m. May 14 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 400 Ridge St., Lewiston. It is open to the public. The Rev. Diane M. Pike, rector of St. Paul’s, is the host pastor.
The service is a time to pay tribute to law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. It will feature a reading of the Roll of Honor and presentation of memorial wreaths by representatives from participating law enforcement agencies. Agency honor guard members will join area musicians in rendering a rifle salute and “Taps.”
After the service, a reception will be provided by the Niagara Falls Block Club Council in the St. Paul’s fellowship hall.
