Blues kick off tonight|Blue Mondays return to Hennepin Park in Lewiston

Niagara Gazette — Recipient of Blues Beat Magazine’s prestigious “Muddy” Award, Blue Mondays return to the gazebo in Lewiston for its 19th year of great blues music.

The event runs 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Hennepin Park Gazebo, Fourth and Center streets.

Considered by many to be one of the best Blues venues in Western New York, according to Lewiston Council on the Arts officials, it attracts a faithful following of blues lovers from all over.

The free event kicks off tonight, the schedule:

• TODAY: Steve Burnside & the Original Marquis

• JULY 22: Ron LoCurto & the Reinhardts

• JULY 29: Doug Yeomans With the Three Kings

AUG. 5: Pappy John's Blues Band

AUG. 12: Big Sauce Trio

AUG. 19: Dive House Union

Also this week, the Marble Orchard: Spirits of 1813 will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Lewiston played an important role in the War of 1812 and it’s destiny was changed forever after it was burned to the ground in 1813.  Hear dramatic and inspirational stories of the impact that the War had on the lives of everyday people. The Marble Orchard Players bring history to life in the telling of these true stories that celebrate the pioneer spirit.  The award winning Marble Orchard series, lauded by historians for it’s authenticity, has enthralled audiences of all ages from WNY and beyond.  If Lewiston is the “Jewel of the Niagara”the Marble Orchard is it’s most precious gem.

The series takes place at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. It's a free event held at the gazebo, Fourth and Center streets.
