Niagara Gazette — Sheriff James R. Voutour announced Thursday that the Sheriff’s Community Police Academy will be to be held at the Niagara County Public Safety Building, 5574 Niagara Street Extension beginning Feb. 28.

The classes will be held every Thursday through May 30 at no cost. Instruction starts at 6 p.m. and generally lasts three to four hours. Applications can be obtained at www.niagarasheriff.com .

The goal of the Community Police Academy is to provide county residents with a working knowledge and background of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the topics are Firearms Training Simulator, Reality Based Training and an Emergency Vehicle Operator Course.

For more information or and application,  contact Capt. Michael P. Dunn at 438-3331 or Deputy Pat Williams at 523-0098. Applicants will be notified by mail once they are accepted into the program.
