Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting its annual Alumni Weekend Friday through Monday. The weekend includes a variety of events, many open to the public, as well as alumni.
On Saturday morning, the 3rd annual 5K run/1.5K walk takes place. This event is open to the public and begins at 10 a.m. in front of Niagara Catholic, 520-66th St. Participants can register online at www.racemanagementsolutions.com.
That evening, Niagara Catholic will host its Alumni Awards Dinner at Antonio’s Restaurant, 7708 Niagara Falls Blvd. Doors open at 5 p.m. This year’s honorees include Distinguished Alumni Dr. Rocco C. Venuto (Duffy ’59), and Janice Putnam Fitzgerald (Madonna ’69), and Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees David F. Murphy (St. Mary’s ’46), and John J. Noworyta (Duffy ’64). The Certo Family will be honored as the Legacy Family, and the 1966 Bishop Duffy Undefeated Football Team will receive special recognition. Tickets are $50 per person which includes open bar and dinner.
The Marty Violante Memorial Golf Classic, honoring Lou Fernandez, at Niagara Frontier Country Club will end the weekend on Monday. Tickets are $190 per person and include 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, one hour open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a steak dinner (vegetarian option available).
