NU to unveil new science center today

Niagara Gazette — Students at Niagara University taking science classes this year have been able to take advantage of the B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences.

The 50,000 square-foot building, part of an $80 million capital project on the Lewiston campus, was opened for business at the onset of classes this semester. The school is formally unveiling its newest building with a public ceremony at 12:30 p.m. today.

Expected to attend include the Rev. James Maher, the school's president, and former president the Rev. Joseph Levesque, who served as the school's leader while the building was proposed, approved and started.

But most importantly is the building's namesake, who is expected to be in attendance. Golisano, the chairman of pay check services company Paychex and former owner of the Buffalo Sabres, provided a lead commitment of $10 million for the building's creation.

Jeffrey Holzschuh, chairman of the school's board of trustees, will also attend, along with students and faculty.
