Veteran Border Patrol agent William Robins of the Falls retires

Niagara Gazette — A Niagara Falls native has retired from the U.S. Border Patrol after a distinguished 30-year career with the agency.

William J. Robbins, 57, completed his service as a deputy patrol agent in charge of the Yuma, Ariz., Station. In that key post, he was overseeing 62 miles of the U.S.-Mexican border and approximately 500 Border Patrol agents.

Robbins, the son of James and Betty Robbins of LaSalle, attended LaSalle Senior High School and graduated at Niagara County College, Sanborn, with an associate's degree in criminal justice. In 1981, he received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Buffalo State College.

Subsequently, he attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center at Glynco, Ga., and then moved to Yuma, where he has lived since. 

Robbins and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Christopher and Kiley, and one grandchild.
