Niagara Falls to be illuminated blue in honor of royal birth

In celebration of the birth of the newest member of the royal family, The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) and the Niagara Falls Illumination Board will be illuminating Niagara Falls in blue on Monday and Tuesday night.

“We thought this was a special way to commemorate the birth of our future king and congratulate the royal couple on the arrival of their first child,” stated NPC Chair and Niagara Falls Illumination Board member Janice Thomson. “Niagara Parks has a great history of royal visits, including Princess Diana’s 1991 trip accompanied by Princes William and Harry. We would be delighted to host one of William and Kate’s future family vacations here as well!”

In commemoration of this historic birth of the future Monarch, Niagara Falls will be illuminated in blue tonight, July 22 as well as tomorrow night, July 23 from 9 to 9:15 p.m., 10 to 10:15 p.m., and from 11 to 11:15 p.m.

Established in 1925, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board is made up of representatives from the City of Niagara Falls Ontario, Ontario Power Generation Inc., the City of Niagara Falls New York, New York State Parks and The Niagara Parks Commission. It is the Illumination Board’s responsibility and mandate to finance and maintain the nightly illumination of both the Horseshoe and American Falls.
